Sight words (also called high frequency words) are words that are recognized by the reader immediately without having to break them into parts and sound them out. Below is the list of kindergarten sight words. I have also included a list of fun websites that have games and activities using sight words.
Fun ways to practice sight words at home
1) sculpt letters out of modeling clay (Crayola Model Magic works well) and use the letters to put together sight words from the list OR roll out the clay and use toothpicks or a pencil to carve sight words.
2) Look through old magazines for sight words. Cut them out and glue onto a piece of paper making a sight word collage.
3) Take a walk around the house, neighborhood or even the next time you are in the grocery store and have your child look for sight words while they walk.
