We LOVE to read!

Below is a list of the books that we read as a class this week.  In addition to these, the children had plenty of opportunity to read books of their choice during rest, free time or Centers.  If you have a favorite book at home that would be appropriate to share, please send it in.  Remember to put your name inside the front cover.  I cannot guarantee that we will read it that day but I promise to take good care of it until we do read it.  It is always a special treat for a family member to visit and share a book.  If you would like to read to us, please contact me via email to arrange a time.  Please remember that all classroom visitors must complete a CORI form, which can be done in the main office.  This must be done prior to your scheduled visit as it takes at least a week to be filed.

Kindergarten children love to be read to and they love to read the same stories again and again.  I encourage you to read to your children as often as possible.  If you read one of these books at home, ask them to tell you about the story before you read it again and then ask questions and talk about it at the end.  This is a great way to build comprehension skills.  Also, when reading books that have repetitive text (like Giggle, Giggle, Quack), pause after the first word while pointing at the next word and ask them to read it.  Checkout our Sight Word list on the Navigation Bar and help your child find some of the words in the text of the story.

HAPPY READING!
