Hi, my name is Beckie McKittrick and I am a graduate student studying Early Childhood Education at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Upon completion of this program, I hope to become a an early childhood educator in Massachusetts. I began my journey to teaching many years ago but then made the decision to stay-home with my children full-time. As you can imagine, three children kept me very busy! As my youngest child neared school age, I decided to take the leap and go back to school to earn a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. If all goes according to plan, I will have completed the program in December of 2011. This website is meant to represent what I might do when I have my own classroom. As part of the class Families, Schools & Societies, I created a mock website of a kindergarten classroom in East Longmeadow, MA. My hopes in providing a website for the families in my class are to provide easy access to the happenings in our room as well as create an outlet for open communication. On this site, you will find schedules/updates, fun stuff for students and parents to do at home, my Philosophy of Education, a parent blog, books we have read, sight words and contact information. In addition to the pages that I would include on my “future site” are pages required for this course such as journal entries, lesson plans and other class projects. Enjoy! ~Beckie |
